Some Homecoming!

First of all, thank you for the well-wishes, prayers, and happy thoughts---they helped! Surgery went very well and I will be found, plane-in-hand and smile-on-face, in 4 weeks.

So I'm home from the hospital now, only 4 days from having stared death in the face (exaggeration included for effect), I walk through my shop to let the dogs out into the backyard, and I see this. This.....PILE OF STUFF on my workbench!

A monstrous, Italian leather handbag has no place in a workshop.

Nor do sunglasses, keys, a shopping bag, or a gallon jug of vinegar. (Why would anyone need a GALLON of vinegar?)

I explained this to my partner, who apparently has been using my workbench in my absence as though it were a common side table in a foyer.

The vinegar, she countered,
is for my attitude.

Nice.

Where can a convalescent file an abuse-of-a-patient complaint?

Kari,

THAT is too funny! I wonder if it was done *on purpose*? I also wonder if one of the pooches might have anything to do with it... : )

Get well, and quickly. But take it easy as long as you have to, for it will help.

Best wishes, and lots of get-well hugs.

Oooops! Sorry that I forgot to answer your question:

You can file an official complaint at the Abuse-of-a-Patient Office, Wash., DC. I don't have the phone number, though - sorry!

Welcome Home!
I see they didn't remove your sense of humor! Good! Because it is your number one medicine. Hope you feel better every day.

Just a spoonful of vinegar helps the attitude go down...the attitude go dowwooowwn the attitude go down!

She's just giving it that "lived in" look!

That vinegar is obviously a hint to make a wooden boat - I have found that cheap supermarkt white vinegar is the best cleanup solution for boatbuilding epoxy (eg WEST System).

Welcome back and have a speedy recovery

Cheers

Wow. 'Don't know what to think. It's bad enough she invaded your sacred domain, but she flaunts it in your face, knowing you don't have the strength to do anything about it?!?!
Oh! The INHUMANITY!!! Shame,shame,shame:D
Btw, vinegar is good for a ton of things from cleaning to your skin.

Sorry I didn't sing for you, but I don't have near the voice that Shazza does.

I'm glad you're back, healthy, and happy.

As for the vinegar, not that I would ever accuse you of harboring such a thing, but you could use it as a de-ruster, since you seem to have a gallon of it.

VC,
After all I said about keeping your bench clean!

Good to have you back, vinegar and hot water with a bit of honey makes 'switzel' a great early drink that keeps you healthy.

Wow, I never expected such great ideas for vinegar use!

She finally revealed that she plans to use it to kill weeds. She read somewhere that it's an eco-friendly way to eradicate them.

Hmmm, not sure I want to ingest vinegar anymore if it can be used as a weed killer....

Vic Hubbard said...

It's actually a great thing to ingest. More commonly ingested as
something pickled. The weed killer is a new one for me. Let me know if it works. Sylvia will use it. No pesticides here because of the pooches.

Kari Hultman said...

Vic, I'll let you know how well it works. I hope it does!

David, sorry to hear about your injury, hope you recover quickly and hope the tool fondling will tide you over until you're able to actually use them again.

Hey, VC, there is something you can use to kill weeds that is even cheaper - boiling water!

Works best when you're not worried about splash-factor (like in cracks on the driveway or sidewalk), but it can also be used in the yard.

Doesn't have to be quite boiling anymore when you pour it, but the closer the better.

You might get a controlled pour out of your standard tea kettle.

Anyway, something to consider.

Oh, and welcome back. Here's to a speedy recovery!

Ethan, that's a great idea---thank you! We are always looking for enviro-friendly solutions to things.

Hi Kari, Glad you seem to have recovered well from your vacation! Hope the prognosis is good. I missed all your recent posts because of a 'vacation' of my own but please take my good wishes as read.

My 'vacation' was unexpected eye surgery followed by having to lie in one position for 5 days. Little fun in that in case you've ever wondered! And like you I'm banned from the shop for a few weeks. I was working on a piece that included elements as small as 2x3x9mm (see my recent post if interested). Hope I can still see them when I get back!
Good luck with the whittling. I'm looking forward to both of us getting back to hoisting large boards.

Great line from Presby re the vinegar!

Kari Hultman said...

Mark, I certainly hope you recover completely from your eye surgery—I bet that was scary.

Let's make a pact to not take vacations like this anymore, shall we????

Agreed! :-)

Kari,

Glad that your home and feeling better. I too am glad that they did not remove your sense of humor.

BTW, you can put vinegar in laundry as fabric softener. Works well and keeps things fresh. Also does not put nasty chemicals in the water.

Hope that you can use your shop in anger soon.

Best,

Archiphile

Thanks Archiphile! Another good suggestion for vinegar. We need them, because it did not work on killing the weeds. We're going to try Ethan's idea of boiling water next.
