Sindelar Tool Museum

Have tissues on hand because you are about to drool.

If you've never visited John Sindelar's website, Sindelar Tool Museum & Education Center,* you've been missing out on one of the finest collections of extraordinary handtools in the world.

John Sindelar has been amassing his collection of rare, one-of-a-kind, unique tools for decades. Enjoy!
*Since I wrote this blog post, John's website has been taken down, so the link is to an article written by Popular Woodworking Magazine which includes a slide show.

I got to see the museum last year. The best tool collection I've ever seen. The lathes where my favorite.

Funny my sister only lives a few blocks up the street but I never heard of it untill I saw an article in a magazine

You're an evil woman, Kari!

Let's see, how many pickle jars of coins would it take to get that plane?

FC, I would love to see his entire collection. I read (in the article you mentioned) where he was planning to move his museum to one of three locations. One option was Harrisburg, PA (1.5 miles from me). I wrote and begged--BEGGED!-- him to choose H'burg. I even wrote our Mayor and asked him to write John, which he did. I don't know if he's still planning to move his museum or not, though.

Bob, I know! I wish I had that kind of spare change.

Having now found the Sindelar Museum web site, I will have to leave the mundane world for a while. I'll be back eventually, once I have ingested the breadth and scope of this collection.

I have it on good authority that the guy who wrote that article still drools every time he mentions Sindelar's collection.

Must.....get.....there...

This site is great. It was almost a nonsecular experience with the music.

I don't know about you, but afterwards I was moved to clean all of my tools and then honed two plane irons and it's not even New Years.

Gary, I wish he had all of his tools posted on his website!

Megan, I thought that might have been a PopWood article. ; )

TCTUA, I haven't found anything yet that motivates me to clean my tools. haha
