The Spirit of Craft, Personified

Thank you to Robin Wood for posting this video on facebook.

It's been making the rounds and you'll see why. This man represents the very best of what woodworking means to us. Thinking about our projects keeps us up at night, the pieces we make are an extension of us, and when we are working on a project, we are completely focused.

I think Wilbur Pan (http://giantcypress.net/) said it best: your excuse is no longer valid.

My first reaction was I watched this with my mouth hanging open, literally. I also could not help but be thankful to our Creator for as the Psalmist put it, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Finally it shamed me profoundly for griping about the little things. I am thankful for the breaths I have remaining, for the humble skills I possess, for the loved ones around me.

I've opened and closed the comment box a couple times.

I got nothin'.

It's hard to come up with anything to say.

I try not to complain, but now I no longer even have permission to.

Thanks for sharing.

When I was in high school I met a friend with Phocomelia due to Thalidomide, he had mere stubs for arms and fingers, yet he could rock out the Yngwie Malmsteen better than I could do Deep Purple. I quit guitar and moved to other more fertile pastures.
This is an amazing video, I'm not going to quit working wood over this one, but it sure is inspiring.
Thanks for bringing this to us:)

I like to think of myself as capable and tough.

I lie somewhere on the continuum of toughness and capability, but that man is far beyond me.

I am absolutely humbled by his ability to strive in not only his country that suffers much poverty, but his determination of his skill at overcoming the "disability" of his condition. This is truly an inspiring video for those who do not understand what it means to accomplish your dreams at whatever way you can possibly do so.
