While working on my current project, I discovered something a little disturbing about myself: I like to beat up furniture.
Could be work stress or other things influencing my furniture agression, but doggone it...getting medieval on wood is FUN!
Here are some progress pics. I'm trying not to go overboard with distressing, but this cupboard hasn't 
seen the last of me yet. That lower left corner is looking a little "rounded corner/craft store"-ish, so it might require a little hammer time.Oh yeah...say hello to the Village Calamity, little cupboard. Say hello.
I like it! slap it around some more so it knows who owns it.

ReplyDeleteWyld...with their little hats on, my chisels can't hear very well.
I would suggest going the natural route. Bury the cabinet in an oxygen deprived peat bog for a few hundred years. I'm sure it will look well aged by the time you dig it up.

PS: I strongly advise that you get your chisels a competant audiology workup soon. Loss of hearing in Chisels is a terrible thing.

I'm starting to worry about you VC, beating up on poor defenseless furniture like that.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere, I've seen a photo of a guy "aging" a piece with a ring of keys, with the keyring threaded through the end of a stick. He used it like a flail.
ReplyDeleteYou can often pick up free, mis-cut keys from your friendly neighborhood (or shopping mall) key-cutting place.
